Noelle has had a long history in education having taught juniors to intermediates.

noelle fletcherShe was a country girl and only arrived in Auckland after the sudden death of her father. She has had a lifetime passion for music and was a classically trained singer, so she was always welcomed enthusiastically as the school music teacher as well as class teacher. She conducted the ten Te Atatu schools School’s Choral Festival for many years. She is known for her humour and enjoyment of life.

She has taught in both Christian and State schools taking leadership roles as she went, from team leader to Associate and Deputy Principal roles before being appointed as the founding principal of West City Christian School, a private school. She remained there for four years until the school achieved Ministry of Education registration.

She was appointed principal of Te Atatu Intermediate, a decile 6 ,culturally and economically mixed intermediate school of 460 students, in 2004.  She resigned from the principal’s position at Te Atatu Intermediate School at the end of 2018 where she had been the principal for almost 15 years. During that time, she led the school through four very positive ERO reviews including two consecutive 4-5 year reviews. During these fifteen years the school doubled in size, the growth coming from out of zone enrolments and an increased sense of community pride in the school.

She was a member of the Auckland Executive Committee for Auckland AIMS for many years and was also on the APPA council for 6 years.  In 2016, she was appointed a Fellow of the Auckland Primary Principals Association in acknowledgement of her contribution to the education sector. She was also a member of the Board for the NZ Foundation for Character Education for three years.

Noelle has a passion for encouraging a positive learning culture in the school for both students and staff, so that all can achieve at their best possible level and to grow to be the best people they can be. Most importantly, she applies that measure to herself first.
